Accounting and Finance Staffing

Friedman Williams is a national staffing and recruiting firm placing accounting, finance, tax, audit and payroll professionals with employers across the country. Our clients range from prestigious corporations to mid-market companies, small boutiques and closely held businesses, across every industry. Our placements span every level, from Chief Financial Officer and VP of Finance through staff accountants, bookkeepers and accounting clerks.

For over two decades, our recruiters have worked the same way regardless of the level: understand what the role requires, then find the person who has done it. We screen for scope, systems experience and accountability, not just a title that lines up on paper.

Titles Alone Do Not Tell You Enough

Accounting and finance titles are inconsistent from one employer to the next. The same title can describe very different scope depending on the size of the organization, how the department is structured and how much of the function sits with one person. Two candidates with identical titles can be a decade apart in what they have actually owned.

This is where experience in accounting and finance recruiting earns its keep. Our recruiters ask what a candidate was accountable for, which systems they worked in, who they reported to and who reported to them.

That is the difference between a hire who steps in and one who looks right on paper and stalls a month later.

Finance Hiring Runs on a Calendar

Very little about accounting hiring is evenly spaced through the year. Close cycles, audit fieldwork, tax deadlines, budget season and system conversions all land on fixed dates, and they land whether or not the team is fully staffed. A resignation in the wrong week is a different problem than a resignation in a quiet month.

That is why so much of what we place here is temporary, contract and consulting work: an extra senior accountant through close, audit and tax support during the crunch, payroll and AP coverage during a leave, or a finance analyst for the length of an implementation. When the need turns out to be permanent, those engagements often convert.

For contract and consulting placements, Friedman Williams carries the administrative weight: human resource issues, payroll and accounting, federal, state and local taxation, workers’ compensation liability, medical benefits and unemployment insurance.

Leadership Searches

At the top of the function, the stakes change. CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance and Controller searches take longer, involve more people and carry more consequence, so we run them differently: fewer candidates, more depth on each, and discretion throughout.

For Employers

What Happens Before a Resume Reaches You

Every candidate we present has been personally interviewed by our recruiters, in person or virtually depending on what works for the candidate, and reference-checked on previous work history, technical ability and education. Our professional recruiting staff averages over a decade in the staffing industry, and the recruiter who takes your search is the one who runs it through to the offer.

We recruit nationwide, drawing on a candidate database built over years of active recruiting and relationships with employers of every size. The screening happens on our side so the interviews on yours are worth the hour. Submit a job order to get started.

For Candidates

If You Are the One Looking

The first conversation is not a pitch. It is a conversation about what you have actually done, what you would rather be doing and what a move needs to be worth. By phone, by video or in person, wherever you are.

From there we stay with you through interview preparation and the offer, and into your first day. Temporary assignments, contract positions and full-time placement are all on the table. Much of our business comes from referrals, which only happens if that experience is a good one. Submit your resume to start the conversation.

Can Friedman Williams staff a temporary accountant for close or audit season? +
